Evaluation
I think that the class went well. I really liked doing the 5 page paper before the 15 page so we had a head start. I would not change that at all. I enjoyed the class. I didn’t feel like I was being pounded into the ground with information. I also like how much you were willing to read are papers. That helped a lot.
Music
When I was writing my paper I found a really good book that talked about music education. This book was written by Bennett, Finn and Cribb. I really liked this passage from this book. “Experiencing wonderful examples of art and music links students with the past. It teaches them about the traditions and culture that have shaped our society, and helps them appreciate others people’s cultural heritages.” I never thought of the fact that music would be connected to culture. It is good for people to be accepting of one another and understand other people’s roots. People can’t understand other people if they don’t know their roots or heritage. This world is full of hatred and laughter towards people and they don’t even understand the people they are laughing at. Different music of different cultures tells a person a lot a culture. If it has words it is easy to see the persons take on life. If someone were to listen to American music they would realize that in this country we focus on love and relationships. It is obvious to me by looking and listening to music.
Reality TV
Reality tv show are so fake. They are become unoriginal as well. Most of them are the same thing over again but some of them are just mean. There are some that use pain and scare tactics to get people. They are funny but if you stop and think about it, it is sad people even go out for them. One of the biggest ones I can think of of the top of my head is wipeout. That show is a series of obstacle courses that people have to run and leap over things. I lot of times people land in really bad positions. I would think that a lot of people in that show would be hurt forever or have a back problem the rest of there lives. I understand why people watch them and think they are funny but why would people be on them. In my sociology class this semester I learned that there was a study that they did that proved that people act different when they know they are being watched, so no reality tv show is going to be how the people would normally act on in real life anyway. It is all going to be fake and staged.
Baseball
I think it is sad how much sports players are getting paid. Right now I am watching all of the baseball player’s sign on their contracts. One that everyone has been looking out for is Albert Pujols. Pujols is probably one of the best players to play the game of baseball. The contract that he just signed is 254 Million dollars for 10 years. There are several different problems with that. One is he is going to be 32 soon so he will not be able to playing for that much longer and be as good as he is. There is no way. Another is he is going to be make close to 70,000 dollars a day. 365 days a year. Not just while he is playing during the baseball season. That is way to much money for one man to be making. This is just one of the many people that are getting paid to be playing a classic kids game. This shows a big problem with America. An old time classic to go to a ball game is becoming unaffordable with a soda in a bottle costing five dollars and twenty five cent. It is becoming to the point no one can enjoy it any more.
Movies
I think movies need to be limited to the number of movies they can have on the same series. They have so many Saws I am lost on what number they are at. The one movies with so many sequels is Harry Potter. I have enjoyed those a lot. I think it is because people got to watch kids grow up. It is not just tons of people getting killed all the time. There needs to be a variety in movies like a variable that changes. For example, age to keep it interesting. A lot of times movies are just repeating themselves over and over again. It is nothing new and that loses my interest. I like change in my movie. Movies in general are starting to repeat ideas too. I also think that some classics should not be redone over and over again. Some classics should not be made with new people. To me, some of the actors and actresses that in the movies are the characters that the movie should have. I cannot see new people in their place and it ruins it for me. Movies should be left alone. That is why the movies are called classics.
T.V.
On television, all the shows are getting so repetitive. I love shows like CSI but now that there is CSI: Miami, New York and more it is so repetitive. I still watch some of them but it is almost too much. Eventually people are going to run out of ideas on what to do. There cant be that many way to kill somebody. I think a show needs to stop once none of the original people are on the show. CSI: Las Vegas, which is the original one, lost the main guy and now there are losing the girl too. They had one head guy for a year and are now on another one. It is getting old to watch and hard to keep up with. Watchers get connected to the people. It is hard to do that when you can’t keep the same person on the show. People need to have a connection to be interested. Movies and TV both have to play to emotions of people, if they don’t, they won’t get viewers. It is plain and simple. People watch things to feel something and get connected. That is what people live their life for.
The Help
I went and saw the Help. It was a good movie. My favorite part about it was the shit pie. A maid named Minny got fired because she used the toilet to go to the bathroom in a white person’s house. The owner named Ms. Hilly of the house didn’t want black people using her toilet. Minny came back after she had been fired acting like she wanted her job back. She brought what she said was a chocolate pie. Minny told Ms. Hilly to eat a piece and decide if she wanted her back. Ms. Hilly ask what she but in the pie that made it so good. Ms. Hilly’s mom went to eat a piece and the maid liked her so she told her not to because it was Ms. Hilly’s special pie. Ms. Hilly told the maid to cut her mom a piece. In return Minny said eat my shit. The women questioned her for saying those words to her. Minny get kept repeating it. Finally she said you are eating my shit and Ms. Hilly ran to the bathroom. It was a really funny scene in that movie. It was a really good movie and it showed me just how bad the racism was. I knew it was bad but had never really seen a movie with it.

I am writing my paper on why I think music should stay in schools. I believe it is a great program to be in. I have loved music since I can remember. It is a great thing for kids to do. I want to prove this by talking about studying and research that proves the music helps your brain and everyday life. I haven’t done the research yet but I know there were studies that show it helped the development of your brain. I am also going to talk about how music helps with social skills because it you are in a group making music and teamwork skills. It is a good place to meet people and make friends.
I am writing about music in this paper because I am passionate about music and I want other students to be able to experience music in school just like I did. I am not saying that you have to like it or that it needs to be a required class, but I think some people will want to be in it on their own. It is the way I met my friends in high school. I still play instruments and I can’t imagine how my life would be without it. It is something I will do for the rest of my life and I want other people to be able to experience playing and instrument or singing just like I did.

Music
I think music should stay in schools. I personally love music and I think it was a great thing for me to get into. I love making music and being a part of a group. I also find it relaxing. I think it is just like any other class. You are learning something in music like you are any other subject.
Music is important to me. I am not saying by this statement meaning you have to love music or even like it for that matter. But just because you don't like it doesn't mean you should take it away from everybody that does. Music is a way for people to express themselves.

E.C. Blog
I had to think about a scary story and I couldn’t really think of one. But I did think of this weird occurrence. When I was in 6th grade, every once in a while there would be a name written on the marker board. The name that kept showing up was Larry. It would show up on different spots of the board and at different times. Sometimes it would be after P.E. or music class when we left the classroom for those classes or it was when we got in the room for the day to start. It was at different times of the day and not every day.
We never did find out who did it or what? It seems like something someone could have done but people were not always in the rooms or at least the same people. It just seems very odd. We didn’t even have a Larry in the school at that time. It could have even been people from another class sneaking in but you would have thought someone would have seen it happen. I don’t really believe in all the paranormal activity stuff. I don’t know about it. It seems so weird to think that ghosts could exist. That is such a strange thing to think about. People die they die. Not come back to haunt people. It is a weird concept to even think about. It is also weird to think if people can’t see you that you can move objects or pick up stuff to write on a marker board.

I just found this particulars guy’s article interesting. I don’t think that any kid needs to watch TV to get though the day. No one has to watch TV but most everyone likes to. It is just part of the thing most people do now. I think this guy is making a mistake by putting his kid in front of the TV to eat anything. The kid is not going to get to have a TV in front of him for the rest of him adult life. That is not a good habit to get into. I would argue that kids especially under the age of 3 should not watch TV on a daily basis. I argue this just because it is not a good habit to get into watching TV all the time. I don’t know anything about the medical side effects of watching TV but I don’t think that is something that a kid needs in their life at that age.
There are so many other things a kids needs at that point in their life then TV. That age is when you really need to start reading to your kid or read with your kid so they get a basic of reading before school. That is the time to really start teaching your kids thing so they can succeed in school. They need to start learning there alphabet and not watching a TV show. It is very important to their learning process to start at that age. It will help them later on in life.

Blog #10?
I think Sullivan Taylor should stay as it is. Sullivan Taylor is a great place for people to come and meet and get coffee if you want. It is a wifi spot for some people to get on the Internet. These and other reason are why I think it should stay the same.
Because it is a local coffee shop, they can change the menu when they want and how they want. In a chain you can only change it when the chain tells you too. You also can't change the prices when you want with or permission. You are under a tight belt with a chain restaurant.
Another thing the a smaller place has is a more homely feeling to it. You feel like you are welcomed to be you are not just another customer. You feel more welcomed in the place then just the same old same looking building as the hundreds of other places that look just like it.
With that being said that is why I think another reason is it uniqueness. It is not like any other coffee store. It is a historic downtown building. No Starbucks is a historic building. That is part of the whole atmosphere of the place. It has a cool feeling of peace and rustic feel to it.
This is why j think it should stay the same. It is a unique awesome place that you feel loved and comfortable in. There is a personal feel to it compared to Starbucks. Therefore it should stay Sullivan Taylor coffee shop.

I would take the red pill. At least I would like to think that I would take the red pill anyway. I don't really know what I would choose, but I would like to think of myself as being adventurous and not ignorant. I want to know what I want to do in life. Therefore, as I said before, I do not want to be ignorant. I think it would be exciting to take a pill and "magically" see what your life would be about, but at the same time you're taking a big risk. You don't what life is supposed to be like. You could end up being a billionaire. You could end up being "the one" like Neo or you could be someone that is starving and feels that they have nothing else to live for.
In the Matrix, Neo takes the red pill. When he is in the new world, someone tells him that they took the red pill and they regret that decision every day of their life. If you are content with who you are, and you don't think that there is anything else interesting in your life, I guess that would make sense to take the blue bill. Some people just accept the fact that they are ignorant. I don’t think of myself as ignorant but maybe we all are.

I now understand this movie a little bit better. I think it is a well made action movie. It really makes you think while you are watching it and think afterwards about what you would do. It also makes you think if there is another place besides this.

I really don’t get this movie. I also am confused at the blue pill red pill choice. I am going to try to talk about this the best I can with what I have gotten out of the movie.
Enlightenment is that you have a path in life set out for you before you were born. This is a part of religions. In the movie the Matrix, Neo gets told he is the one. That is Neo’s enlightenment in the movie. He chooses to follow that path.
In real life I do not believe in enlightenment. I think that you are who you are but I don’t think that someone higher than us has everybody journey set out for them. I feel that you should live your life the way you think best. It is not all put out there for you to follow. You have to make your own choices in your life.
Neo goes with his enlightenment by finding out more about his path by finding out about the matrix. In this movie he followed his enlightenment.

You need to find yourself in life. I think that is just part of life. It is something that most people end of doing in life. That is part of it. Pain is gain. That is a common saying among people. With finding out knowledge it my hurt but I think it is still worth it. Pain is part of life. I cannot think of a single person that has lived without pain.
It may hurt but it will lead to a good thing in the end. Being happy and content with where you are in life is a good thing. You can accomplish a lot in life if you do. Everybody is unique. People are always thinking they are the best and put you down for who you are but it is ok to be who you are. Everybody has their opinion of what is right because we are an individualistic society. It is unfortunately in most people’s blood to be mean and pick on people. You have to push past the barriers and achieve what you want.
I think it is definitely worth pushing past the hard in life to get to the end. People are ignorant and don’t realize what you are trying to do. You can get where you want to in life. Pain is just part of life. You will have to decide if the pain of not knowing your enlightenment is more then the pain it will take you to get to the end.

For my paper I am going to talk about why music should be in schools. I was in music in high school I am loved the experience. I think it is a good program to be in. I love music and making music. It is a relaxer to me. Playing an instrument and making it sound good is a really neat experience.
For band I played trumpet. I never practiced a whole lot at home but I was still pretty good. It just came easily to me. If I am in a bad mood I listen to music. It helps me relax and forget about things. I think that it should be an option for kids to do. From personal experience, I know it is not everybody’s favorite thing. I understand that, but some kids do and it needs to be there as an option.
In my paper I plan to talk about how it is a good relaxer. I also want to stress on the fact of how at my school there was also marching band. That gives you a lot of structure and how to work together. Concert band also gives you a since of working together. If the group of players does not work as a band, the music would not sound good.
The question I have for you is can I talk about how I know in studies they have proven music to help the brain be stimulated and use most parts of the brain since I know that from hearing it before? This is what I am thinking of for my introduction
Music is so beautiful and expressive. Why should we take that away from kids? I believe that music programs should be kept in schools. It is a good outlet for kids to relax and make friends. It also helps build teamwork. These are all things that you want kids to learn in school for the rest of their lives.

RR#3
Is it good to know too much? Or is knowing everything a great characteristic to possess? These two questions are two parts to a very difficult question to answer. I think that knowing everything could be a good thing at times, but, at the same time, I think knowing everything could be a bad thing sometimes. It all depends on what situation you are put in.
I think that there are times when knowing it all would put people in bad or unnecessary positions. One example of this is a child. There are some things that should have an “age limit.” (If you can call it that) There is a reason that we use the phrase, “a child-like innocence.” There are many things that children do not understand, and in many cases, that is the way it is supposed to be. In my opinion, if a parent of a younger child goes off to war, the child does not need to know exactly what war is and what is going on. Mainly, because it is too much for that child to fully understand and take in. There are other things that children should not know until they are older as well, but war is just one example. Knowing too much can affect adults too. There are just some things that are too hard or too much for them to handle. Sometimes people cannot handle that they cannot help other people directly and in short term. For example: my mom worked with someone in the70s who ended up committing suicide because she was upset she could not help people in Bangladesh. She just could not handle the pressure of knowing that people were hurting and she could not help. In those situations, and other ones like them, I think that it is okay to retain that innocence.
I do think that knowing everything would be a good thing sometimes too. I think it would be nice because people would not argue about things, because everyone would know the same things. They might still have different opinions, but what is known would be known by everyone. That would help to provide less chaos. There would be less confusion too. This would also help us not to repeat our mistakes as well! As I said, before knowing things could or may not be a good thing all the time.

I believe that being heroic is doing something for the good of others. To me, anyone can be a hero. It does not take a cape and superpowers to be a hero. Those are just the ones we know and love the most. We have all heard of Batman and Superman. They are a good kind of hero, but there are also good heroes in real life.
To me, a hero can do many things. I think that anyone that is helping out the good of others is a hero. There are different levels of heroes, but they are all doing something good. I think another thing is doing something good most of the time. You can’t just do something good once and call yourself a hero. There are lots of things that need to be done in this world to help people out.
I don’t know if we use the term hero for people anymore. We label them as a hero at the time they are doing something good. Every time you hear the names: Batman and Superman, you think hero. When people do something good, it is more of a “you’re my hero” and that is it. There is nothing wrong with that, but it is only in the “you saved my life” situations. It is good to be a hero at one point in your life.
On the other hand, being villainous is doing something not good for other people. It is just the opposite of being a hero. You do things to hurt people and get pure enjoyment out of it. This is like being the Joker or the Green Goblin. They both enjoyed watching people die. Being villainous is not a good thing. It is mean and evil.
Sometimes being villainous can come from your life experiences. I think of serial killers. Typically something has happened to the person as a kid or any other time and set them off. I think if you ever kill someone, that makes you a villain. It is not right to kill people because you want to. It is not your right to walk around and kill innocent people because you feel like it.
Being villainous is not only killing people. That just tends to be the outcome of it. It can also include torturing someone or sabotaging them. It is not a good thing to hurt people. Being villainous is not something that anyone should do or be. It is not a good thing for anyone. It may help some people that are villainous to kill people and it may make them feel good, but is not helping anyone else. It is being selfish and greedy.
Like you said in class, being heroic means that you like doing things to help other people, and being villainous is the things you don’t like in life. I don’t think anyone should murder or kill anyone so that is being villainous to me. I like to help people in life and do good things for others, so in my opinion, that is being a hero. I think it is that simple.

You have to wonder what truth is and what gives us the right to think what we think. Everybody has the right to think what they want. Where is the fine line between what we think and the truth? I think that truth is a matter of opinion. That sounds kind of weird, but truth means something different to everyone and that is okay. Some people though, do not allow other people’s opinions and that is wrong.
I think that truth is very important to today’s society. I think that many people just disregard truth and the value that it should have. There are many things that would be better off in our world if they were based on truth. Relationships are one example of that. I don’t just mean romantic relationships, but any relationship. More often than not, in today’s society, relationships are built on what brings pleasure sooner than later. This is important, but there are many other characteristics to a good and “healthy” relationship. This is just one example, but it is an important one.
Fact is another interesting subject. I personally believe that a fact is something that is proven. This brings up many interesting conversations though. Because when we say it is proven, what does that mean exactly? Everyone uses different sources to “prove” things are true.
For example, when people are Christian, many of them use the Bible to prove that those things are facts. To someone who does not believe that though, the Bible is completely fake. I think that it is nearly impossible, if not completely impossible, to prove anything. There is always data that is for topics and against topics. There are certain people that agree with certain things and others who disagree on that same topic. Honestly, I do not know if I can define a fact. It is different in everyone’s eyes.

I took ethics during the summer. That class really opened my eyes to all the possibilities of different beliefs that come attached to all subjects. One that comes to mind is abortion. There are so many different situations that can come up that can slightly change your opinion on a certain subject. I really enjoyed that class because it let me freely express my opinion even though people did disagree with me. That is what I like about these blogs too. I can feel free to say my opinion. Not everyone always feels self-conscious enough to give their true opinion. This is easily explained. So many times, people have their opinion shot down just because it might be different and not the most commonly accepted. As I said, that is one thing that I think needs to change. Everybody needs to be more accepting of others’ beliefs and opinions. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on everything and that is what should be. They should not have to worry about their own thoughts being criticized I believe this can change easily if everyone just opens up their minds a little bit.

First Blog
I have always struggled with spelling so I dislike writting papers because of that. I like writing if it is a good topic I just stuggle to come up with the words. Like I said I like to write if it is something interesting. I hate to read. Sometimes but rarely am I in the mood to read. I get headache a lot when I read but I am a very hands on person so I like to play games more.
